Conclusion:

  1. I could not understand the reason for canon for making a newer model as the features of both cameras are same, may be they wanted to make same features comes in a smaller body and weight so people might not need to carry a big camera.

  2. Both camera prices are almost the same, difference of few USD might be experience in few places.

  3. I would recommend to buy Canon SD940IS the newer version because its a new model, its quite light and smaller than the canon powershot SD960IS.

  4. Cano SD940IS offers an extra F-Stop of F5.9 that SD960 does not have, but it will not make much difference.

  5. Canon SD940IS has 1" smaller LCD that does not make any difference and the fastest shutter speed is lower than the SD960IS that also does not make much difference.
