Nikon D40 & D40x Digital cameras are available in the market with almost same specifications. We sometimes get confuse that what is the difference between Nikon D40 & D40x. There is a minor difference between these two that is mentioned below.

  • Mega-pixels (Resolution): Another visible difference between Nikon D40 & NIkon D40x that is the Megapixels. Nikon D40 is a 6.1 MP SLR camera where as Nikon D40x is a 10.2 MP SLR camera.

Disadvantages of Nikon D40 & D40x:

  • Nikon D40’s Does not have an AF Motor due to which there are only few lenses available for this camera. We have to Buy a lense with an AF motor to reduce lense upgrades. If we intend to buy new lenses we miss out vast number of older lenses which we might have bought from cheap sources.
  • Both Nikon D40 & D40x does not have exposure / white balance bracketing or depth of field preview however it does have an option of manual exposure, not as convenient as automatic bracketing, but it is fine for a static landscape.
