-
So if you own a canon SD1100 digital camera you do need to worry as you have not missed anything special however if you want to buy a new camera then you can think whether you can pay some extra bucks to get this smart auto option or not? as the SD1100IS digital camera will not hurt at all except for that its an older model and will be vanished from the market soon.
Note: You must have an idea by now that megapixels are not the only basis on which you select a camera as the megapixels
only increase the size of your picture, it does not have to do anything with the clarity and detail of the picture.

If you have the 1100, keep it.
If you have neither, spring for the 1200.
If you have the 1100, must have the latest and can afford it, give or sell the 1100 to a deserving person and get the 1200.
My 1100 is fantastic. I have searched, and have not found, a better camera of this type with as many features or lens and picture results for the money. It does everything I want to do and more. Yet, I discover additionaly capability on a regular basks. I carry it in my front pocket and use it much more than my Rebel XT.

Agree Roger.. I am also very happy with my canon SD1100 and even i found this newer model i have not even think to change my camera because its canon + it has same features so why to change the camera.
The above comparison is very precise and in a moment i knew what is the difference

Agree with Roger and Ben. I have a SD1100 IS, and it’s a great camera. I have thoroughly reveiwed and searched for a better one than this, but not found yet. I’m happy with the camera, except little bit concerned about it’s low light performance (cos I wanted to take lot of pics in low light recently!). I think I’m still learning of it’s low light capability and flash modes
Except that it does all what I need to do. I recommend SD1100 to anyone, although I’m excited to experience 1200’s smart auto option, looks a cool thing

I use to have the SD 1100 but it got stolen so I just bought the SD 1200. The 1100 had a feature to control the shutter speed but i cant seem to find it on this one…thats a very important feature to me…I cant believe the new one wouldnt have it.

I actually think this comparison sucks!! No actual work was done and the person comparing them was just lazy. yes, lazy! You can’t just look at the specs and compare. I heard one was aluminum and one was plastic. is that true? There’s no mention of that. I heard the older one took sharper pictures too. No even a word about that on this comparison. Plus I think the older one has a different image processor. The new one I hear is all plastic feeling like a toy. This was the worst comparison ever in the history of canon comparisons!

Hi Joe,
Thanks for the feedback and the missing points that were mentioned above. Actually this Comparison does not provide each and every aspect of the cameras but compare different specs to help user identify the better fit for himself. It doesn’t mean that we will discuss all the points user can think of. We will try to improve

Curious why the 1100 is still selling for $70 more than the 1200, on Amazon, since it’s an older model that’s to be discontinued. Usually the price point of soon-to-be-discontinued models goes down. The marketplace is saying something here.
Yeah John you are right. as older models when getting to discontinued always get expensive as there is less amount left in market. after sometime it will be removed from market. and only 1200 will be left. this is how it works

Are the chargers and batteries the same?
My 1100 broke.
I was gonna buy another on ebay, since i have an extra battery and charger.
Can I use the 1100 battery in the 1200?

Thanks for all the various comments and responses here. I am also trying to decide between the two. My pal has the 1100 and loves it. I figured I would just get the most current version (1200) but I did read that the image quality was inferior than than the 1100. can anyone comment on thats? Somethng about the increase in megapixels took away from something else.

I am very sad about my new 1200 purchase… My favorite feature was the color feature… where i could single out a particular color and have the rest black and white.. its gone (or at least i can’t find it!!) I want to take it back and get my money back!! SO DISAPPOINTED. Had I known this I would have never got this one!

I do not like the 1200. They took many features away. In the 1100 you were able to edit your videos on the camera, you can’t do this on the 1200. Also on the 1100 you were able to select what you wanted to appear on your slide show (eg. All, By date, Category, Selection, Movies only,Pictures Only) which you can’t do on the 1200.
